Sony revealed the release date for the previously delayed Last of Us 2 which is now scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 4 this summer.
Sony opted to delay release "until further notice" last month, as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Last of Us 2 was previously expected to launch on 29th May, but at the time, developer Naughty Dog explained it was "faced with the reality that due to logistics beyond our control, we couldn't launch The Last of Us 2 to our satisfaction."
Sony Interactive Entertainment Head of Worldwide Studios Hermen Hulst, on the PlayStation blog said "personally congratulate and thank both the teams at Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch Productions on their achievements, as we know it’s not an easy feat to reach the finish line under these circumstances. Both teams have worked hard to deliver world-class experiences, and we can’t wait to see what you think of them when they release in just a few short months."
Sony has now confirmed a revised launch date of 19th June for The Last of Us Part 2, meaning series fans will only have to wait for eight weeks in order to plat the Last of Us Part 2.
If you’re one of the many people looking forward to The Last of Us Part II, you should be careful online between now and the game’s newly announced June release as some major and supposedly legit spoilers were leaked online. We won’t be sharing the information here in this post, but you can take steps to preserve your experience by muting any terms you can think of relating to The Last of Us on social media.
