Beyond: Two Souls - A 2013 story based game that still keeps up

Beyond Two Souls is an interactive drama and action-adventure game for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows, developed by Quantic Dream and published by Sony Computer Entertainment.

The game features Jodie Holmes, one of two player characters. The other is an incorporeal entity named Aiden: a separate soul linked to Jodie since birth. Jodie, who is portrayed by actress Ellen Page.

Early Developement in 2012

David Cage, founder and CEO of Quantic Dream, announced Beyond: Two Souls at Sony's press conference during the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2012. The developement had started way back then. That's the fun part about this game. As you start playing, you don't really get the vibe of 2012. Keep reading to find out more.

Gameplay of Beyond Two Souls

The game requires players to move and guide the character, interact with objects and non-player characters in order to progress the story.

Switch between characters (Jodie and Aiden) at any time or play both with your friend in the two-player mode. At almost any time, however, the player can switch to control Aiden instead. Aiden, as an incorporeal entity, exists permanently in noclip mode and can move through walls, ceilings, and other obstacles; however, he is limited to moving only within a certain radius around Jodie due to their spiritual connection with each other.

Release Date of Beyond Two Souls

The initial release date was way back in 2013. Then after around 6 years, the developers finally decided to release the game on PC and then, we, the PC gamers finally got to play it in 2019.

Keeping up with the Modern Games

Now here's what i liked the most about this game. Even tho originally developed way back, while playing the game, i did not get any vibe of an old game. Instead, the game offered everything a modern game has to offer.

The story telling was awesome and can be directly compared to some of the modern interactive titles. The game didn't fail to perform at a good pace at any point. Overall the experience was satisfying, including the storyline and the mixed unique way the story is played out to be.

In short, beyond two sousl is a great game and if you're willing to play a game like Life is Strange, Life is Strange 2, Batman: The Telltale Series or The walking dead, Beyond two souls is a great choice for you. It's currently available on Steam and can be bought for PS4 as well, if you have a PS4.
