SINoALICE, a free-to-play gacha RPG launched globally

SinoAlice is playable solo or cooperatively and features hundreds of different weapons and characters, including Alice from Lewis Carroll's classic stories

Drakengard and Nier director Yoko Taro's new fantasy mobile RPG SinoAlice is available on mobile. Combining Taro's dark world-building with classic fantasy characters, SinoAlice arrives worldwide after releasing three years ago in Japan.

SINoAlice debuted in Japan back in June 2017, and was originally to be released by Nexon in 2019. After multiple delays and a store de-listing that convinced many fans the game had been abandoned.

SinoAlice is playable solo or cooperatively and features hundreds of different weapons and characters, including Alice from Lewis Carroll's classic stories as well as Red Riding Hood and even Princess Kaguya. The role-playing game uses an intense combat system and is backed with music from frequent Taro collaborator Keiichi Okabe, who also did the music for both Nier and Nier: Automata.

The above trailer doesn't show much of about the game itself. But SINoALICE has been out in Japan for three years so we already know how what the gameplay of the game is like. It's a free-to-play gacha RPG, but instead of character gacha, the game utilizes weapon gacha.

More or less, it's an average F2P collectible game where you'll level up your heroes through the weapons you collect. Notably, the game contains wonderfully detailed art, and its soundtrack is phenomenal. But past that, the game does little to separate itself from the F2P gacha crowd.

Pokelabo is taking over control of the upcoming global version from Nexon. There's no word how the game will be monetized, but if you take a quick look at the Japanese Play Store listing, you'll see that the Japanese version contains in-app purchases that range up to $64.99 per item.
