The Outlast Trials is not a direct sequel to the previous games but set in the same universe and the time frame here will be the middle of the Cold War.
The original Outlast was released in 2013 on Windows PC. The first-person psychological horror game came to consoles the following year, as did the Whistleblower add-on. In 2017, Red Barrels released a sequel, Outlast 2, with a different setting and main character.
This game is being developed by Red Barrels. It’s good to know that Red Barrels is returning to the Horror universe of Outlast.
Outlast trials is set in the era of the Cold War, human guinea pigs are involuntarily recruited by the good folks at the Murkoff Corporation to test advanced methods of brainwashing and mind control. In a world of distrust, fear, and violence, your morals will be challenged, your endurance tested, and your sanity crushed.
The Outlast series is going multiplayer. The Outlast Trials, will explore the Outlast survival horror universe with friends, featuring cooperative play for up to four players.
The game will be released probably somewhere in 2021. Let's just hope it doesn't get delayed much.
