The Drox crushed and enslaved the ancient nations eons ago, and their strong Operatives dominated the galaxy. These elite starship captains were bred to achieve the unthinkable at any cost. They were always lethal, whether they used subtlety or brute force. For almost 100,000 years, the Drox governed the cosmos with an iron grip thanks to their Operatives. They attempted to assassinate all of their Operatives after recognizing they were a threat.
New races arose and flourished in the power vacuum... for a time. The ancients then reappeared. The wars were brutal, but with the Drox Operatives on their side, the ancients were defeated and a peace was reached.
A fourth wave of sentient races has emerged across the cosmos since the catastrophe. Unlike earlier waves, this one has thousands of people in it, and no one knows who they are. The ancient, mature, and young species are all scouting, colonizing, and expanding in the new space race, attempting to take over the galaxy by diplomacy, technology, battle, and any other means at their disposal.
