Freedom Planet 2 is a vibrant and high-octane 2D action platformer developed by GalaxyTrail, serving as the direct sequel to the beloved indie hit Freedom Planet. Building upon its predecessor's foundation, it refines the core gameplay and expands the world and narrative, aiming to deliver a more mature and distinct experience.

Overview of Freedom Planet 2

The game takes place two years after the events of the first Freedom Planet. The kingdom of Shuigang is under threat from a mysterious alien force known as the Shang Mu Empire. The player takes on the role of either Lilac, Carol, or Milla - the same three protagonists from the first game - as they get on a new adventure to save their kingdom.

Along the way, they will encounter new characters such as Neera Li, the last of the ancient dragon clan, and Corazon Tea, a mercenary hired by the Shang Mu Empire. The story is set to have multiple branching paths and endings, giving players a more personalized experience.

Freedom Planet 2 Gameplay

Similar to its predecessor, Freedom Planet 2 will feature fast-paced platforming action with elements of both side-scrolling and 3D movement. Each playable character will have their unique abilities and moves that players can utilize to overcome obstacles and defeat enemies.

The game will also introduce a new mechanic called the Dragon Boost, where players can transform into a dragon and perform powerful attacks. Additionally, there will be new special stages where players can ride a dragon through a tunnel while collecting crystals and avoiding obstacles.

Aside from new characters and gameplay mechanics, Freedom Planet 2 will also have a variety of new features. First up is the Elemental Shields, which give players temporary abilities to use in battle. These shields include the Fire Shield, Ice Shield, and Light Shield.

The game will also have upgraded visuals and improved animation, making the gameplay even more visually appealing. Plus, there will be new modes such as Time Attack and Boss Rush, providing even more replay value for players.

Playable Characters

Freedom Planet 2 offers four distinct heroines from the start, each with unique abilities and playstyles:

• Lilac (Speed Type): The water dragon protagonist, known for her incredible speed, aerial attacks, and powerful Dragon Boost. She's ideal for players who enjoy high-momentum gameplay.
• Carol (Brawler Type): A feisty wildcat who excels in close-quarters combat with her claws. She can also summon a motorcycle for enhanced speed and has a versatile "Jump Disc" for platforming and offense.
• Milla (Explorer Type): A timid but resourceful basset hound. Milla focuses on ranged attacks with her "Phantom Cubes" and can generate shields. Her health has been significantly improved from the first game, and she now has more robust melee options.
• Neera (Power Type): A formidable frost knight and former antagonist, Neera joins the heroines. She wields a spear and utilizes ice-based abilities, offering powerful, deliberate attacks and crowd control.
