Overview of Gunnhildr

Raw Halite, which is required for life on Niflheim, is rapidly depleting, resulting in pollution and a dying earth. The leadership squabbles amongst itself in an impasse of contradictory options until they decide to seek help from Asgard. Gunnhildr, the sole Warrior to achieve the status of Ancient, is summoned to plead the Gods, but they reject her. Gunnhildr, unable to tolerate rejection, takes on the Gods themselves in an attempt to gain their favour. She has been vanquished. The Gods scorn Niflheim as a parasite on the Nine Realms, shattering the Bifrost and eternally separating Niflheim from Yigdrasil's other worlds.

With an armoury of weaponry and exotic powerups, Gunnhildr will go on a trip throughout Niflheim through dynamically created dungeons. To replenish your shields, collect Halite crystals from fallen opponents and scattered outcroppings; acquire things for survival; and keep your weapons cold. Between bouts, listen to old Niflheim legends while your benign guide, Lucky, assists you in escaping Niflhel's terrible chasms. Every run is unique, every gun may be upgraded, and everyone is counting on you to save them from the Primes' clutches.

One Resource

Halite powers everything. It is the source of life in Niflheim. You'll find Halite scattered around the world, and enemies will drop it when defeated. You'll use the Halite you collect to restore your shields, cool down your weapons, unlock treasures, and spend at the shop. When you die, you'll bring back most of the Halite you've collected in order to upgrade your abilities further at the Pensieve.

Narrative

The lore of Niflheim is vast and Lucky knows it by heart. While you're busy scavenging for treasures and finding your way through Niflhel's labyrinths, Lucky will regale you with different legends from Niflheim's history. When the fighting picks up, he'll automatically cut himself off to let you focus on what you're doing. The storytelling structure builds context for the world and your actions as you build up your rebellion against the Primes.
