Patron builds on the foundations established down by the survival city building genre's staples, enhancing the experience with a vast research tree and the introduction of complex social aspects to the game and the genre as a whole. Happiness, the basic simple aspect of all such games, is a whole gaming system in and of itself in Patron.

Patron begins similarly to previous games in the genre, but eventually deviates into social complexities and what it means to really govern a civilization rather than merely a city full of automatons.

Each resident in the community has his or her own wants, desires, and concerns that either bother or delight him. Some people are more concerned about immigration, while others are more concerned about fiscal concerns. He'll be pleased if the citizen's viewpoint on the topic coincides with what the local administration (YOU, the player) is doing. It also works the opposite way around.

CONSTRUCT AND UPGRADE

To make the best of the opportunities in this new land, you will need to construct residential houses, farms, production plants, manufacturing buildings and dozens of other buildings needed to harvest the riches of the land.

BALANCE SENSITIVE SOCIAL ISSUES

Every decision you make as Patron will be met with different reactions from different social groups. You'll need real political talent to balance sensitive matters as religion, immigration, loyalty, poverty... Whatever you choose to do can lead to unforeseen consequences years later.
