The Outer Worlds 2 is a first-person, sci-fi action RPG game. Built on Unreal Engine 5, the game moves to the new Arcadia star system, where you play as an agent of the Earth Directorate tasked with investigating mysterious space-time rifts that are destabilizing the colony.

This standalone sequel deepens its role-playing mechanics, forcing players to navigate a three-way faction war between the tough Protectorate, the hyper-capitalist Auntie's Choice corporation, and the fanatical Order of the Ascendant.

Gameplay is defined by deep, permanent character customization, including an expanded Flaws system that offers perks in exchange for reactive, gameplay-driven debuffs alongside significantly improved combat, new companions, and a "true, reactive" branching narrative where player choice and skill specialization, rather than combat, can determine the fate of the entire system.
