You are Geralt of Rivia, and you are a Witcher. This means that you hunt monsters for money. You were trained in this profession until you became one of the best and endowed with mutagenic elixirs that tempered your body.
You suffer from amnesia and don't remember anything about your past. Caer Morhen, the last stronghold of the witchers, was attacked by unknown people just as you arrived to lick your wounds. The attack was repulsed, but the recipe for mutagen, which is used to create such fighters as you, was stolen by intruders. The surviving witchers search for the missing recipe, vowing to punish the blasphemers severely. Despite your memory loss, you join the hunt.
The game takes place in the dark world of the fantastic middle ages, subtly smacking modernity. This sets the Witcher apart from most other role-playing games with a similar plot. Thanks to its exciting story, versatile characters, and many complex choices that affect the outcome of events, this game will not let you leave your monitor until you pass it!
