The game begins with the Straw Hat Pirates sailing across the New World in search of their next adventure. Their journey takes an unexpected turn when their ship, the Thousand Sunny, is swallowed by a colossal storm.
Shipwrecked, the crew washes ashore on the mysterious, lush tropical island of Waford, an uncharted land shrouded in raging storms and mentioned only in ancient tomes. Separated from their crewmates and with their ship damaged, Luffy sets off to reunite with his friends and find a way to escape.
Upon exploring Waford, the Straw Hats encounter two new original characters: Adio, a mysterious explorer, and Lim, a powerful girl with the ability to "cube" and scatter the Straw Hats' powers. This phenomenon leaves the crew significantly weakened, forcing them to embark on a quest not only to understand Waford's secrets but also to regain their lost abilities.
A significant portion of the game's narrative involves venturing into "Memoria," a world created from the Straw Hats' collective memories. To recover their cubed powers, the crew must relive and re-experience key moments from their past adventures, albeit with unique twists due to the nature of memories being "fuzzy" and prone to change.
This allows players to revisit iconic One Piece arcs like Alabasta and Water Seven from a fresh perspective, engaging with familiar characters and scenarios in new ways.
The overarching storyline and new characters, Adio and Lim, were directly worked on by One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda, ensuring that the narrative feels authentic and expands the One Piece lore in a meaningful way.
